Banned Books

.      People ban book’s for the silliest reasons. They do it because the book talks about being homosexuality. Like Tango Makes Three.  It’s a true  story to!  There are so many wrong things about banning this book. 1. It’s not going to turn your child gay like parents are concerned, its your own choice. 2. There is nothing wrong with being gay. 3. If a book with to male partners is banned then why not ban a book with a male and female partners? Whats the difference? 4. It is real life people are gay, then why did some libraries put it in the non-fiction section? Its a completely true story!

.

.      Another stupid reason to ban a book is religion. Some books are banned for characters not believing in god. Did you know that an American Christian group tried to ban Harry Potter? They said that there was to much magic and it promotes witchcraft among children. That makes no sense though because we all know that Harry Potter is fiction and if the little kids don’t then let them have their fantasies. Anyways, there is nothing wrong with witchcraft. Its just as good of a religion as Christianity.

.

.      My favorite banned book story is the one of Where’s Waldo? There was a tiny picture of a lady sun bathing with her bikini top untied. But they can’t even tell what page it was on! Now thats just silly. I bet its not even there and if it is its probably only a few centimeters. No book should ever be banned at least not in the u.s. but anywhere really. I mean with our freedom of speech and everything it seems silly to ban books because they are gay.

Ode To Rugby/Yoohoo

Your nose is wet and fine,

Your tongue slobbers me all the time.

You’re always happy to see me,

Though you’re always greedy… for food.

Your tail wags when I’m near.

Because you’re so dear.

Smashed was your rear,

The suburban you fear.

I love that you’re so smart,

But you stink when you fart.

The doc. says you’re morbidly obese,

But you’re still my favorite beast.

Henna Fun

My friends Zalii, Sara, and Nora came over to my house the other night for a sleep over. We made henna! It was super fun though we were constantly smudging our hands.

Brave Writers: Movie Madness

BraveWriters

I took a course on BraveWriters called Movie Madness. What we did was we would watch a movie then we would discuss the movie on a discussion forum.

We discussed:

*Glory

*A Room With A View

*The Sting

*Star Wars- A New Hope

*Hitchcock’s- North By Northwest

In some of the movie discussions we made up fake names to go with the movie. For example: In The Sting a gangstarish movie my name was Doll Face (don’t laugh.)

I really enjoyed the class because though it was very intellectual Mr. B (one of advisors) was really funny. It was his idea to do the naming and he always had the best name.

Pretties By: Scott Westerfeld

Pretties

Pretties, the sequel to Uglies by Scott Westerfeld is also about Tally. In the first book, Uglies, David Tally’s boyfriend’s mom discovers a cure for pretties. You see, when you become a pretty the doctor not only makes you body pretty but your mind. They make small cuts in your brain called lesions which make you into a bubblehead not able to think strait. David’s mom just needs a willing pretty to test the pills on. Tally makes a big sacrifice, she will test the pills. She becomes Pretty.

In the second book, Pretties, Tally the bubblehead is havening the time of her life. Her Clique the Crims (all the people who were criminals before turning pretty) and her are invited to all the parties where they get drunk. During one of the parties Croy a Smokie shows up and gives Tally direction to where to find the pills. Tally and Zane (her boyfriend/Crim) split the pills. They worked. Tally can think straight and so can Zane despite his headaches.

Shay the bubblehead finds out about the pills and is mad that Tally didn’t split them with her. Shay makes her own Clique the Cutters who cut themselves to be bubbly, the same effect of the pills. The Crims have to escape before Special Circumstances talk to Shay. Can they pull it off? Read the book to find out!

I read this book in two days flat. It was spectacular! When I read the book it made me think well I wouldn’t be a bubblehead I would resist but the truth is I probably would be able to do it, I mean no one else was able to pull it off.

Uglies By: Scott Westerfeld

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld is about a girl named tally. In Tally’s world about 300 years into the future everyone gets an operation at age 16 that turns you from a normal ugly to an outstanding pretty.

Shay, Tallys friend doesn’t want to be pretty. Shay runs away to a secret town called Smoke where you never have to turn pretty. Of course Your not supposed to run away so special circumstances gives Tally a mission; to find shay and betray Smoke or never turn pretty. Its up to Tally to decide.

I sped through this book, its that good. It makes you think about what you would actually do to get something you desperately want.
