The Chrestomanci Quartet
Charmed Life:
Book 1 of the Chrestomanci Quartet, charmed Life is about Cat and Gwendolen Chant. They are both orphans living with their neighbor. Gwendolen is a highly gifted witch. The great Chrestomanci, a rare nine-lived enchanter, invites them to live in his castle. At first, Gwendolen takes this as an opportunity but she begins to hate Chrestomanci and the castle. She pulls dirty pranks, and that makes no one but Cat like her. Gwendolen eventually escapes to an alternate world and an identical replacement named Janet chat take her place in world 1A. Cat has to help Janet pretend to be Gwendolen, and when Gwendolen comes back, no good happens. Cat learns that he is a nine-lives enchanter and Gwendolen attempts to kill Cat and Chrestomanci. Cat must save the day.
I enjoyed the Book because of the magic in it; I think that magic is fun. The author’s intent is to entertain the readers.
The protagonist is Gwendolen because she wants to learn more magic and the antagonist is Crestomanci because he is holding her back. I learned from this book that you can’t trust every one because .
Witch Week:
Book 2, Witch Week is about a world in the series where if you are found out as a witch then you are burned. The teacher in the class receives a letter that says someone in the class is a witch. Everyone in 6B thinks that it is nan Pilgrim because she is named after the famous Witch Dulcinea. People make fun of her because of it. Once someone left a broom on her desk labeled “Dulcinea’s Pony.” No one likes Charles much, he is a witch but no one knows it. Once Dan hides his sneakers so he got in trouble with his gym coach. Brian is a teacher’s son, he doesn’t get made fun of much but is a bit secretive. Nan, Charles, Brian, and a couple of other students attempt to escape society so they won’t get caught. The call upon Chrestomanci to help them escape.
I liked this book because magic is fun and I could not guess the ending. The authors intent it to talk about bullying. The entire book is full of obstacles because it is about the prejudice against witches and going against the rules to do the right thing.
The Magicians Of Caprona:
Book 3, The Magicians of Caprona is about the Montanas and Petrochis cooperating. Tonio Montana and Angelica Petrochi both learned to hate each other’s family. Other city states to war and both the Montanas and Petrochis work hard at creating war spells. They are also searching for the lyrics of Angel of Caprona, a very powerful spell that only when found the true power of Caprona will come.
When both Tonio and Angelica disappear, the two families blame each other. This is all part of the Duchess’ plan, because if the families are blaming each other than they cooperate and she gains more power. Montanas call upon the Chrestomanci to help them but Chrestomanci tells them that it is not the Petrochis. They are forced to work together, the Petrochis and Montanas and learn that each other aren’t so bad.
This book is about coming together with enemies and learning that they aren’t as bad as you might think.
I like the plot it is unsuspected. The author talks about friendship.
he Lives Of Cristopher Chant:
Book 4, The Lives of Christopher Chant, is about Christopher Chant. He is a nine-lives enchanter and spirit walker. He has the ability to go to other worlds, and bring things back. A group of thieves used to bring illegal things from other worlds, of course young Christopher doesn’t know what it is. He is brought to Chrestomanci’s Castle and things get worse plus he hates it there. Tacroy his spirit traveling friend and Kriket became his only comforts. When trouble begins in the castle it is up to Christopher to save the day, and his friend Tacroy.
I love the story because I love magic.
